ECC-Evangelical Covenant Church
Things Once Hidden: Apocalypse Now
Thanks for joining us for worship! This fall we will be journeying through the Apostle Paul's letter to the church in Ephesus--his Letter to the Ephesians. We will discover and explore together "the mystery" of God's will and purpose for us and all of creation. Come back here regularly for resources for further study. We worship together each Sunday morning at 10:30am on YouTube, on our Worship page (ecclife.net/worship), or in person.

Believers’ Baptism
Expand
We will be holding Believer Baptisms on October 9. For those who have come to know and seek to follow Christ, baptism can be an important step. Baptism is an outward and visible sign of something that is inward and invisible. It's the place we make public profession of our faith in Christ, making it known to others. If you've never been baptized and feel that you are at that place in your own faith journey where it is time to take that step, we invite you sign up below so we can contact you with more information. Information for infants is included on the page. https://ecclife.net/baptism
LifeGroups
Expand
There is still time to sign up for a LifeGroup if you have not already. Visit the webpage below to read about what LifeGroups are, to sign up to take part in a LifeGroup this fall, OR--and this is important--to let us know if you are currently part of a small group that could become a LifeGroup.

Things Once Hidden: Apocalypse Now
September 18, 2022
Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Pastor Stacey Littlefield
Write your main take away from this week's sermon below:
A question to ponder.
How is the word, apocalypse, most often used today? Write your answers in the space below.
A question to ponder.
Compare the prayer in Ephesians 1.15-23 with the prayer in Ephesians 3.14-21. How are they similar? How are they different? How might they inform how you pray for ECC or other churches?
A question to ponder.
In your own words, how would you explain the concept of the "two ages" which make up all of time from a biblical point of view? How would you talk about the impact the life, death, and resurrection of Christ Jesus have had on the relationship between these two ages?
A question to ponder.
Why do you think it matters that every time the words "you" or "your" appear in Ephesians (and in much of Paul's letters), these pronouns are plural? What difference could or should that make in how we interpret Paul's words?

The Overlap of the Two Ages. The cross represents Jesus' resurrection and the inauguration of the New Age. The Sunburst represents Christ's return, when this age will end and the Age to Come will finally and fully arrive.

Prayer for the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost
O God, because without you we are not able to please you, mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
