“The believer’s life was never meant to be lived alone. When we jump in and share life with a community of believers, we find the truest, closest connection God intended you to have within your church family.”
DISCIPLESHIP...

LIE #1:
My life is way too busy to add anything else to it.
DISCIPLESHIP...

TRUTH #1:
As believers we need other believers to help us grow spiritually.
DISCIPLESHIP:
- becoming the best disciple/follower of Jesus that we can possibly be.
Can a new believer figure out all of the Christian life on his/her own?

NO WAY!

5 things that can happen inside of DISCIPLESHIP:

1) We learn to put Jesus first.

2) We begin to follow His teachings.

3) We become more fruitful in our obedience to Him.

4) We grow to love other believers/disciples.

5) We learn to reach out and make disciples of others. – evangelism
Matthew 28:18-20...
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

DISCIPLESHIP is the GO, the MAKE, the BAPTIZE, and the TEACH all wrapped up together.
FELLOWSHIP...

LIE #2:
I’m very introverted and only thrive in environments without other people.
FELLOWSHIP...

Romans 15:30-33...
30 I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf, 31 that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, 32 so that by God's will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company. 33 May the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
Ephesians 4:1-3...
1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Ephesians 4:31-32...
31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
FELLOWSHIP...

TRUTH #2:
The Bible says you need connection with other believers way more than you think you do.
Hebrews 10:23-25...
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
MINISTRY...

LIE #3:
Ministry sounds good - right up until it takes my time, effort, or money.

- Ministry done right always takes a lot of time, effort and energy.
MINISTRY...

TRUTH #3:
Ministry almost always happens at the most inopportune times.

- It’s these moments that become the most significant pieces of our spiritual investment.
THE GOOD SAMARITAN - Luke 10...

The characters in the story:

v. 30 – A random man...
“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead.

v. 31 – A priest...
Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side.

v. 32 – A Levite...
So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

v. 33-37 – A Samaritan...
33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’ 36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”
Know this...

We are Plan A in God’s scheme of reaching the world outside of here.

There is no Plan B. Not a governmental program! Not being friendly!

It’s being the church and serving.

MINISTRY is all part of Plan A:

- Your discipling of others each week, keeps people growing here.

- Your fellowship each week, keeps people coming back.

- Your ministry outside of here will keep bringing in those who are hurting, and lost - wandering aimlessly.
