I. Consider the value of following Jesus- v. 18
• Sufferings are now, glory is future
II. The hope of the created world is tied to our hope- vv. 19-22
• Creation anticipates the reward that Christians will experience
• Creation will be set free from the curse when God’s people gain glory
• For now, creation groans
III. Endure the trials of life with confident hope - vv. 23-25
• The first fruits of the Spirit is the down payment of our hope
• We look forward to full adoption, which includes heavenly inheritance
• If God gave us everything now, there would be no need for faith (but that is what makes God happy)
Bottom Line: Christians have the best hope
Questions To Consider
What benefits of following Jesus do you most appreciate? What challenges of following Jesus are the most difficult for you to endure?

When Paul considered the challenges of following Jesus and the rewards, what was his conclusion (v. 18)? Do you really believe he is correct? Do you make choices in your life based on that conclusion?

How is the hope of the world tied to the hope that Christians have? Why can we say that Christians have the greatest hope? What is the connection between hope and faith?
Melodic Line of Romans
Jesus is the prophesied and revealed Messiah whose gospel-accomplishing life, death, and resurrection saves His beloved people, chosen out from all the world, to an obedience of faith, for the glory of His name.
