We are in a series called "Exalting Jesus", and we're going through the book of Luke. We hope you will be encouraged by what is taught today.

1) The centurion had love for his servant (as a distinguished guest at a banquet).

2) The centurion loved Jewish people.

3) The centurion had humility.

4) The centurion had strong faith.

Jesus was moved by her grief.

Psalm 86:15, “But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”

Lamentation 3:22-23, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Psalm 34:18, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

As our high priest and mediator before God, who can both sympathize with us in our weaknesses, and is moved by our grief, we ought to have the confidence to believe that, regardless of the heartbreaking and crushing situations or circumstances that come into our lives, the gracious, merciful, loving, faithful, compassionate hand of God wants to draw us near to himself.
