Ephesians 4:11-15
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to
the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ…
When we speak the truth in love, we will grow more like Christ.
Where do we find the truth?

Ephesians 4:11-12a
And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ…
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
The truth of the Bible equips us to live life with the best kind of relationships.
Why do we need the truth?

As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind…v. 14
Without truth we are like little children.
Without truth we are tossed about like a boat on the waves.
1. …carried about by every wind of doctrine…
2. …by the trickery of men…
3. …by craftiness in deceitful scheming…
2 Corinthians 11:3
But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.
How do we practice the truth?

…but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ…v. 15
1. We LISTEN when others speak the truth in love to us.
2. We ACCEPT the truth because we know God uses it in our life.
3. We SPEAK the truth in love because honesty and kindness are always best.
4. We ACT by the truth because it’s important to obey God.
What results from living the truth?

...but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ…v. 15
Growing up means that we become more mature and begin to be more and more like Christ in how we live and act toward others.
