Alive By The Spirit
No one becomes a Christian because they choose to follow a set of rules. Jesus explains to a religious leader that a person needs to be born again by the Spirit. Only He can make us alive to God and to a whole new life energized by His power.

No one can manufacture a relationship with Jesus Christ on their own. God, the Holy Spirit must be at work to make us alive to Jesus.
Read John 3:3-8
As you cannot give birth physically to yourself, so you cannot be born again spiritually by yourself.
Like water poured out to bring life, so the Holy Spirit must be poured out on a person to make them alive to God.
Like the wind, the Holy Spirit moves. We can’t control Him but we are called to respond and to trust Him.
We don’t know when and where the Holy Spirit will move next but we do know that when He moves, a miracle happens.
- The Holy Spirit reveals our emptiness without God.
- The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and our state before a Holy God.
- The Holy Spirit opens our eyes to the wonder of God’s grace.
- The Holy Spirit leads us to repentance and faith and makes us alive to God.
- The Holy Spirit comes to live within us and witnesses with our spirit that we are God’s children.
I have begun to follow Jesus and am depending on the Spirit of Jesus in my journey.
“…Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:9-10 & 13
Questions for Reflection:
- What evidence is there in your life that you have been made alive by the Spirit or need to be?

- What is it, presently, in your life that you are learning to depend on the Holy Spirit for?

Worship Through Giving

Giving back to God is a regular expression of worship, gratitude and praise.  See our giving options. Offering Prayer: God thank you for everything that you have provided to us. We give back to you as an expression of worship, gratitude, and praise for who you are. You are a good good father. Thank you that through this challenging time, we are assured that we do not need to worry, but trust that you will provide for our needs. Help us to be generous with what you have given, and lead us into opportunities to bless and serve others with the resources you have given to us. In Jesus' name. Amen
