Questions about Food
April 2-3, 2022
Anne Miranda
We are God’s temple:
Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s temple and that the Spirit of God lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and that is what you are. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17 CSB)
1. Food Embodies Evidence of God: A Blessing or A Curse
· Genesis 1-3
· We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and the Lord has punished him for the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:6 CSB)
· Genesis 22 – Abraham
· Genesis 25 – Esau
· Genesis 42 – Joseph
· 1 Kings 4:38 – Elisha
· Exodus 3 and Numbers 20 – Moses
· Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him. (John 2:1 CSB)
2. How can we experience God through food?
· Taste and see that the Lord is good. How happy is the person who takes refuge in him! You who are his holy ones, fear the Lord, for those who fear him lack nothing. Young lions lack food and go hungry, but those who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing. (Psalm 34:8-10 CSB)
…Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4 CSB)
3. God’s Story Begins and ends with Food
· his beloved become the fertile garden I will always show you where to go, I’ll give you a full life in the emptiest of places, firm muscles, strong bones. You will be like a well-watered garden, a gurgling spring that never runs dry. (Isaiah 58:11 The Message)
· To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God. (Revelation 2:7 NKJV)
· Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:9 NKJV)
4. How can we experience God today?
· Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. (John 6:35 NIV)
· Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14)
