Use this space to take your general notes during the message.
People are messy, which means that relationships are messy, too! Christians should set the tone for culture in dealing with people and issues. Discuss how the Church hasn't always gotten this right. (Ex. "Love the sinner, hate the sin.")
It's so important for us to examine how Jesus treated people. Discuss what you learn from the following in regards to how Jesus treated people:

*His position was Grace and Truth.
*His posture was that of being a "Friend of sinners". Notice how He was frequently accused of being too accepting, yet never accused of being too religious.
*He accepted all people but did not affirm all behavior. In other words, He welcomed everyone, but did not have an "anything goes" approach.
We often confuse Love with Agreement. Do you think it's possible to disagree with someone and still maintain a loving relationship?
In dealing with messy people and relationships, what has typically been your end-goal? Behavior modification or both parties becoming more like Jesus? Be honest. ;)
Pastor Jonathan offers great advice. As you discuss these points with your group, share how you intend to implement this advice. Who in your life comes to mind?
1) Don't just brush it off (grace without truth).
2) Don't just call it out (truth without grace).
3) Build them up (with grace and truth).
Spend time with the following excerpts from Eph. 4 (NIV). Read through it a few times if necessary. How is God wanting to use these words to shape you more into the likeness of Jesus?

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it many benefit those who listen.
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
As a result of this message and discussion, what are your next steps?
