1 Cor 12:1-3
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware. You know that when you were pagans, you were led astray to the mute idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
Christianity is:

Not a commitment to a belief system, but to a person – Jesus Christ.
Not a commitment to an historical figure, but a living Lord.
Not a commitment to a distant Lord, but One Who is present in you.
The Presence of the Holy Spirit

…I do not want you to be unaware. v. 1
John 14:16-18

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you."
…He will assure you. John 14:20
…He will teach you. John 14:26
…He will bring peace to you. John 14:27
…He will help you bear fruit. John 15:8
…He will give you joy. John 15:11
…He will remind you. John 15:26
…He will convict you. John 16:8
…He will guide you. John 16:13
…He will glorify Jesus. John 16:14
…He will give you what you need. John 16:23
The Promise of the Holy Spirit

…when you were pagans, you were led astray.. v. 2
Acts 1:4-5

Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Acts 1:8
“…but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
1 Corinthians 12:13
“ one Spirit we were all baptized into one body…”
Ephesians 1:13-14
In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance…
He comes. He fills. He leads.
The Power of the Holy Spirit

…no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.” v. 3
The Holy Spirit always will lead us to declare “Jesus is Lord” with our lips and our lives.
Matthew 16:17
And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
John 20:28
“My Lord and my God!”
Romans 10:9
"…that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved…"
The single most important statement I can make to myself in moments of decision is “Jesus is Lord.”
Ephesians 5:18
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit…
“God commands us to be filled with the Spirit and if we are not filled, it is because we are living beneath our privileges.” - D.L. Moody
He comes. He fills. He leads. He empowers.
