NEW MESSAGE SERIES. We're listening for the timeless voice of God as we meet many of the personalities in the Old Testament.

TODAY'S MESSAGE: "That All-Too-Familiar Feeling"

Today's Scripture passage: Genesis chapters 2:25

We know the feelings all too well. Guilt and shame can weigh on our souls. But they seem to be part of human anatomy since the dawn up time. What’s up with that?
NOTES FOR TODAY'S MESSAGE:

1. How are guilt and shame different from one another? (Psalm 32:5; Isaiah 50:7)

2. What does Genesis 2:25 teach us about shame?

3. What do we learn from God’s exchange with Adam & Eve after their disobedience?

v.3:8

v.3:9-10

v.3:11-12

4. What is “the curse” all about? (v.14 & ff.)

5. What's God solution to the problem of sin? (v.15)

6. What does v.13b teach us about God’s heart toward us? (James 1:14-15)

REFLECTING & RESPONDING.

When have you experienced intense guilt and/or shame? Are you able to distinguish between the two? How might this distinction be helpful for you in the future?

What is your immediate response to God when you are disobedient? Are you fearful; regretful; repentant? Do you cower; hide; confess? What’s God’s response in return?

Are you a shamer or easily shamed? How does this affect your relationships with God and others? What is God speaking to your heart today regarding shame? What steps will you take to respond?
