Revelation 3 7-9
Revelation 3:7–9 . . . “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘these things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens” 8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
1 Corinthians 15:58 . . .Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Galatians 6:9–10 . . . And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Matthew 10:21–22 . . .“Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. 22 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
I. Be thankful for our Great God
Revelation 3:7 . . .“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘these things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”
Genesis 1:26 . . . Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Man’s problem is He has created “A” God, after man’s image and man’s likeness.
Romans 1:22–23 . . . Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
Malachi 3:6 . . .“For I am the LORD, I do not change; therefore, you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
II. Be thankful that God knows your works
Revelation 3:8 . . .“I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”
• Dependence on Him – You have a little strength
• Faithfulness to His word – You have kept my word
• Uncompromising commitment to His name – You have not denied my name
• God rewards works with MORE works – I have set before you an open door and no one can shut it . . .
Matthew 13:12 . . . For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
John 15:2 . . . Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
Luke 12:48 . . . But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.
III. Be thankful for God’s vindication
Revelation 3:9 . . . Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
• Those who profess love for God but hate the Truth of God
John 8:39–40 . . .They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this.
• Those who think salvation is by works rather than the new birth
John 1:12–13 . . .But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
• Those who think salvation comes from knowing Jesus rather than Jesus knowing you
Matthew 7:21–23 . . . “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
