Conversation Starter
Describe a time you experienced joy this week.
Begin your study with prayer
Pause for a few minutes to quiet your heart and mind. Then ask God for insight and direction as you study and reflect on this week’s lesson
Bible Study and Group Discussion
Read 2 Corinthians 5:1-6:2.
1. What’s the difference between seeking to please God vs. trying to earn God’s love?
2. Are you usually motivated by desire or guilt?
3. Why did Paul describe his work as a fearful responsibility? What’s the biblical truth around this idea?
4. Paul makes a contrast between having a spectacular ministry and having a sincere heart (vs. 12). What’s the difference?
5. Describe a time you made a personal sacrifice to help someone else.
6. When we’re controlled by Christ’s love, we put the spiritual growth of others above our own comfort. What does that look like practically for you? What else in your life is competing for control (job, approval, children, security)?
7. What obstacles need to be removed from your life so you can be a more passionate and effective ambassador for Christ?
8. In what ways has God made you a new person (vs. 17)?
9. How would you explain the message of reconciliation to someone? What can you do to be a more effective ambassador of Christ?
10 . What do you find most inspiring or challenging about this
week’s lesson?
Spiritual Practice
A spiritual practice is training for the soul. If you build these into your everyday life, you’re sure to strengthen your relationship with God.

Spend time thanking God for all the things in your life that have been made new. Then, pray for friends and family who are not yet reconciled to God.
Memory Verse
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
