Board Minute
As mentioned last Sunday, the board had a great interview with a candidate last Friday night. Following a unanimous vote (15-0) by the board, the candidate has indicated that he is open to moving forward in the process.
The next step will be a meet and greet time on October 19 with our prospective pastor. This event will be followed by a congregational vote on October 24. As part of this, the candidate will be answering questions from the congregation. We’ll be providing additional information about this as details are finalized.
As we navigate the next steps, we are not yet releasing the candidate’s name. Once we do release the name we will be asking that it not be posted on social media and that we work diligently to keep from leaking the name beyond our congregation. There is a delicate balance in this process of not unsettling the candidate’s current ministry assignment until he is sure that he will be coming to Manteno. The plan at this point will be to release the candidate's name following the service on Sunday, October 17 giving everyone time prior to the Q & A evening and the vote to find out additional information online. One part of this is that there is a required minimum 2/3 affirmative vote of the congregation to extend a call to the pastor. The candidate will take into serious consideration the vote at Manteno before making a final decision and announcing this to his current congregation.
In approaching these important times in the life of Manteno Nazarene, we ask for your continued prayer. We are hopeful and excited for what God has in store and place our trust in his guidance.

Upward Sports
Due to the risks and challenges of the pandemic, we regret to announce that the 2022 Upward Basketball Season has been canceled.
This was an extremely difficult decision for us to make. Our league requires a large number of volunteers, as well as large facilities to run practices and play games. To that end, we are subject to the protocols of both the Manteno Church of the Nazarene and the Manteno Elementary School. Our choice to cancel this year reflects our desire to protect our athletes, volunteers, and families as well as our commitment to offering meaningful experiences between our players, coaches, and fans that transcend game day. We do not feel that we can offer this experience at this time.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your family. We will sorely miss seeing you this season. Thank you in advance for your understanding, and feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. We hope to see you again for the 2023 season!

Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin

Jesus is calling

O come to the altar
The Father's arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ

My sin was great Your love was greater
What could separate us now

The Big Picture
October 10, 2021
Victory In Jesus

Chorus
O victory in Jesus
My Savior forever
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory
Beneath the cleansing flood

Verse 1
I heard an old old story
How a Savior came from glory
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me
I heard about His groaning
Of His precious blood's atoning
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory

Verse 2
I heard about His healing
Of His cleansing pow'r revealing
How He made the lame to walk again
And caused the blind to see
And then I cried dear Jesus
Come and heal my broken spirit
And somehow Jesus came and brought
To me the victory

Verse 3
I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea
About the angels singing
And the old redemption story
And some sweet day I'll sing up there
The song of victory
