The term “Christian” can be confusing. What does it mean to be a Christian? Everyone seems to have an opinion, but who’s right? Join us for our summer series The Sermon on the Mount where we will explore what it means to be a Christian and discover what Jesus said about those who follow Him.
Matthew 7:21-23 ESV
We give evidence that we know Jesus by our obedience to the Word of God.
Knowing about Jesus, spiritual gifts, and religious activities provide no proof of saving faith.
Challenge: Be careful to not deceive yourself into thinking that you are saved because of your knowledge of God and your religious activities. The Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 13:5, “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?” To pass the test of genuine faith is to demonstrate your trust in Jesus for salvation by living in obedience to the word of God.
