Pause for a few minutes to quiet your heart and mind. Ask God for insight and direction as you study and reflect on this week’s lesson.
Bible Study and Group Discussion
Read Matthew 8:1-4.
1. What do you think it was like for the man with leprosy to approach Jesus?
2. How do you usually feel when asking God for help (embarrassed, fearful, skeptical, hopeful, bold, etc.)? Why?
3. Why did Jesus heal this man?
4. Jesus was willing to touch the untouchable. Why is this so significant?
5. Why did Jesus tell the man to take an offering to the priest? (See also Leviticus chapters 13-14.)

11. What are important points to remember from this story?
12. How do you sense God wants you to respond to this week’s lesson?
Spiritual Practice
A spiritual practice is like training for the soul. If you build these into your everyday life, you’re sure to strengthen your relationship with God.

Each day this week, approach God with boldness and ask Him for something only He can do.
Memory Verse
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:16 (NLT)
Prepare for Next Sunday
Next Sunday, August 8, we’ll continue our series Encounters with Christ. To prepare read Matthew 3:13-16; Luke 1:39-45.
