What comes to your mind when you hear the word "kingdom"?
Jesus' primary message pertained to the Kingdom of God. In the bible, this phrase is referenced 65 times, and "Kingdom of Heaven" is found 32 times. Obviously, this reveals the topic's tremendous value. Read the following verse.
Pastor Jonathan defines the Kingdom of God as "the living, breathing presence, purpose, and reign of God. There is no boundary or limit to His Kingdom. In this regard, what do you learn from the following passages?
In order to understand the Kingdom of God, we must recognize that it is "here now, but not yet fully". Yes, it includes the afterlife, but this life, too. Which means, because of Jesus, we participate in it! Review the following verse.
As a group, discuss how the Kingdom of God is described more than defined. For example, discuss this in terms of the spiritual, physical, emotional, and relational aspects. How do we see, feel, hear, and experience it?
The Kingdom of God is a purpose more than a place. How do you see that depicted in the following passage?
What does all of this mean for Christ Followers? We adjust to reveal more than accomplish.
-"you are the light of the world" (Matt. 5:14-16)
-"go to all the world" (Matt. 28:19-20)
- "I am sending you" (John 20:1)
If we accept this shift in perspective how will our world look differently to us? How will we respond?
Before concluding in prayer, discuss this quote the R. McKinley, This Beautiful Mess:
"What if you lived in an actual kingdom, a place and time under the dominion of a sovereign Lord who DID rule from horizon to horizon, whether you bowed to Him or not, whether you knew He existed or not? It could happen. I think it already did."
