Live Free | Fighting for Freedom
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free." (Galatians 5:1) So why are we so prone to shackling ourselves and others with things that keep us from experiencing that freedom? Join us for a study of the book of Galatians where the Apostle Paul teaches us how to live free by faith.

Mission Hills is a church family—a family who wants to extend to you the same love, hope, and joy that we have received. We know that we cannot be all things to all people. But we do want to be one thing to all people. We want to be the place where anyone, of any age, of any level of spiritual maturity, of any economic class, of any ethnicity, of any church background—or no church background—can meet God in a way that transforms their life…forever!

If you are a first time guest, we would love to meet you! Stop by the Welcome Center for a free gift.
Legalism says believing + behaving -> belonging.
The Gospel says believing -> belonging -> behaving.
Sin and legalism are both barriers to a relationship with God.
Sin separates us from God.
Legalism inhibits intimacy.
What relationship would I like to be more intimate? What legalism might be inhibiting that intimacy?
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Gal 5:1).
Slavery is our default setting.
We fight to live free by watching for the drift.
What am I most likely to judge others for?
(What we judge others for often reveals what we feel superior about).
If we don't lean in to what we're freed for, we'll drift back to what we're freed from.
We fight to live free by learning to live by the Spirit.
When we say yes to Jesus:
1. We’re freed from sin
2. We belong to God
3. We’re given the Holy Spirit who enables us to lean in to righteousness.
The Holy Spirit is the person, presence, and power of God.
The best evidence of belonging to God is loving others.
We fight to live free by learning to love others.
[Dangerous prayer: "Holy Spirit, open my eyes to opportunities to love."]
We fight to live free by remembering that a little legalism does a lot of damage.
We have to fight hard to live free.
We fight to live free by watching for the drift.
We fight to live free by learning to live by the Spirit.
We fight to live free by learning to love others.
We fight to live free by remembering that a little legalism does a lot of damage.
1. Where do I see a drift towards legalism in my life? With God? With others?
2. Where am I doing best at loving others and where do I need to grow in love?
