LIVE IT OUT, DANIEL 3
Daniel 1—Daniel decided to Stand Out
Daniel 2—Daniel decided to Step Up
Daniel 3—The Three Amigos decide to live it out

I. WHEN YOU LIVE OUT YOUR FAITH, IT CREATES CONFLICT
Verse 1 – “King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold.”
Statue = 90ft tall, 9ft wide
Verses 3-6 – “Then the satraps, the prefects, and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the justices, the magistrates, and all the officials of the provinces gathered for the dedication of the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. And they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. 4 And the herald proclaimed aloud, ‘You are commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages, 5 that when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, you are to fall down and worship the golden image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. 6 And whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace.’”
Deuteronomy 5:8-9 – “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 9 You shall not bow down to them or serve them.”
Principle – “The more you violate your conscience, the weaker your conscience becomes.”
Verse 9 – “Therefore at that time certain Chaldeans came forward and maliciously accused the Jews.”
Truth – “Silence doesn’t stop conflict, it redistributes it.”
II. OUT OF CONFLICT OVER FAITH COMES CONFIRMATION OF FAITH
Verse 16 - They answered the King: “Oh King we do not need to give you an answer in this matter…
Verse 17-18 - “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. “But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”
Point: Their faith wasn’t up for negotiation

III. WHEN FAITH IS CONFIRMED, CONFUSION IS CLEARED UP
Verses 16-18 – ““O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”
Three Takeaways
1. They understood that God was able, but not obligated
2. They understood that God’s will might be different from their will
3. They didn’t make their obedience contingent upon God’s deliverance
