ECC-Evangelical Covenant Church
The Center of All Things: Look to Christ, Who Is All and In All
We are glad you are with us today. We believe that Jesus not only forgives us and makes a way for us to know him, but he transforms us and renews the image of God within us, then sends us out into the world. We hope you'll join us this week as we begin a new series on Colossians. We worship together each Sunday morning at 10:30am on Facebook, YouTube, or in person.

The Center of All Things: Look to Christ, Who Is All and In All
July 18, 2021
Eighth Sunday after Pentecost
Reverend Beth Ernest
Write your main take away from this week's sermon below:
Questions to ponder.
Which Christ-like qualities does your community embody?
Questions to ponder.
Where do you see evidence of “the flesh” that soils God’s good creation? What stands in the way of that changing?
Questions to ponder.
Paul warns the Colossians, “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” Do you find that you sometimes lie to yourself and others about who and whose you are? Why is that?
Questions to ponder.
Think about an area in your life where you need to “look at Jesus Christ” to get centered. If you want, share that with the group.
Questions to ponder.
When you think of Christ being “all and in all”, is there any part of the world that you would want to exclude? (Be honest here—who is it hard for you to love?)
A practice to engage.
Is there anyone with whom you might share the core message of today’s sermon? How would you summarize what you heard if someone asked you, “What happened at church today?”
Prayer for the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost
O Lord, mercifully receive the prayers of your people who call upon you, and grant that they may know and understand what things they ought to do, and also may have grace and power faithfully to accomplish them; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
