Privately, Publicly, and Corporately
Psalm 95:6
Pastor Jerry Koller
Worship is an active response to God whereby we declare His worth.
2 Actions:
· bow down
· to kneel
3 Arenas of Worship:
· Public
· Private
· Corporate
Private Worship is what takes place between you and God.
Public Worship is what takes place in the general arena of life.
Corporate Worship is what takes place when the Body of Christ gathers together for the purpose of worshipping God as one.
· This is to be carried out in all three: Private, Public, and Corporate.
· Come is an invitation: to have an active response to God.
The phrase let us includes both an individual and a group invitation to actively respond to God.
Bow down in worship
· kissing the hand
· bowing down to someone
Bowing down is a sign of reverence.
Kneel before the LORD our Maker
· This includes the element of submission.
To submit means to yield to the control, the decision the judgment, and authority of God.
Today’s Scripture also points out why we should have reverence and submit to God. He is...our Maker.
Creator and Maker—they are one and the same.
Private, Public, and Corporate:
How well do you do in engaging in private worship—just you and God?
· If we disregard it or take it lightly, what would that say about how we view God’s worth?
How do you rank as far as corporate worship is concerned?
· How important is this to you?
How well do you do engage in public worship?
Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.
· Privately
· Publicly
· Corporately
***MASK UPDATE***
Expand
In response to recent state and federal mask recommendation changes that vaccinated individuals may now enter public spaces without a mask, we are making all of our gatherings and facilities mask-optional. For the time being, we are still asking that everyone maintain a safe distance from one another as an added precaution. Our desire is to both honor those who have chosen to get vaccinated by allowing them to attend mask-free (if they so desire) as well as respect those who have chosen not to receive a vaccination. We ask that everyone respect one another's personal convictions. In addition, please be sensitive to those who would rather not engage in physical greetings. As always, our first goal is to maintain the unity of Christ while also making every effort to equip one another to live out our faith.
