The Meadows Protocol
Expand

Beginning Sunday June 6th, we are no longer requesting masks as part of our protocol. If you would like to wear a mask your for own personal protection, you are welcome to do so.

We still ask you to be responsible; be respectful and be eternal in how you are responding to those around you as we continue to navigate the Coronavirus pandemic.
Propel: to drive, push, or cause to move
in a particular direction
1. Connect the Word of God with the God of the Word.
- Verses 16-18
- God revealed
- A good God who gives good gifts (17a)
- A faithful God who is unchanging (17b)
- A holy God who is grieved by sin (18, 20)
- The Living Word (Hebrews 4:12; John 1:1,14)

How well are you connecting the written word and the living word?

2. Develop listening skills . . . especially with God.
- Verses 19-20
- Samuel’s secret (1 Samuel 3:10)
- What makes a great listener?

Interest/attention/feedback

3. Don’t expect good stuff to grow in sinful soil.
- Verse 21
- A passion to purge (Colossians 3:16)
- Have you taken moral inventory recently?

Psalm 139:23-24 - Thoughts/affections/attitudes/actions

4. Don’t mistake emotion for devotion.
- Verses 22-25
- King Saul’s downfall (1 Samuel 15:22-23)
- The Lordship test (Luke 6:46) "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?”
- Concert Christians (Ezekiel 33:31-32)
“My people come to you, as they usually do, and sit before you to hear your words, but they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain. 32 Indeed, to them you are nothing more than one who sings love songs with a beautiful voice and plays an instrument well, for they hear your words but do not put them into practice.”

Are you performing or transforming? (Matthew 23:28)

Benediction Blessing
May your life be propelled each day
by the written, living and eternal Word of God.
May you learn to seek God’s face
through the pages of Scripture.
May you cultivate a heart
that can hear God whisper.
May you persistently purge
moral filth from your soul.
And may you accept no substitute in your life
for obedience to God.
