“For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.”
Ephesians 2:14-16 ESV
For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Romans 8:7
I will put enmity (hostility) between you and the woman,
and between your offspring[a] and her offspring;
he shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise his heel.” (Genesis 3:15) (ESV)
Forgiveness is releasing the offense to the one who breaks down walls of hostility.
Forgiveness is walking in life and freedom at its very core.
We own our stuff when we mess up.
We authentically ask forgiveness. We graciously give forgiveness.
We remind each other of the finished work of Jesus as the genesis of forgiveness.
We encourage each other as restored image bearers.
