In relationships we have to learn to forgive. Forgiveness is the foundation of a marriage. It is also the key to longevity in any other relationships—siblings, co-workers, friends. Yet ongoing continual forgiveness is costly. It will require work that we often do not feel we should have to do or even want to do at times. Remembering why we forgive will help soften our hearts enough so we can do that work. Is your priority to have a healthy relationship? Do you want to have a relationship that thrives? These are decision we all have to make if we truly want to follow the teachings of Jesus—but it won’t be easy. The obstacles to forgiveness are great and we will have to look to the Holy Spirit to help us move forward.
