AS WE GATHER We all seek lives that are fulfilling. Jesus tells the story of a son who grew up in a home with a loving father who provided all he needed, yet this son thought the grass was greener on the other side. It wasn't until he left home and lost everything that he truly appreciated the love and care of his father. Why was it so difficult for the son to see the blessings before he packed up and left? Why is it difficult for us to see our daily blessings? Where are we looking in our quest for a fulfilling life?

Come, Thou Almighty King……….LSB 905, stand for stz. 4
1 Come, Thou almighty King,
Help us Thy name to sing;
Help us to praise;
Father all-glorious,
O’er all victorious,
Come and reign over us,
Ancient of Days.
2 Come, Thou incarnate Word,
Gird on Thy mighty sword;
Our prayer attend.
Come and Thy people bless,
And give Thy Word success,
And let Thy righteousness
On us descend.
3 Come, holy Comforter,
Thy sacred witness bear
In this glad hour!
Thou, who almighty art,
Now rule in ev’ry heart,
And ne’er from us depart,
Spirit of pow’r.
4 To Thee, great One in Three,
Eternal praises be
Hence evermore!
Thy sov’reign majesty
May we in glory see,
And to eternity
Love and adore.
P: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
P: Lord, through the gift of faith You promise us abundant life.
C: We confess that we often look to the things of the world to bring joy.
P: Lord, You so richly provide all we need for spiritual and bodily living.
C: We confess that we have been less than thankful.
P: Lord, You are so generous with Your love, and You call us to love one another.
C: We confess that we have been less than generous.
P: Lord, You are always faithful to us.
C: We confess that our faithfulness to You wavers.
P: Lord, hear us as we cry out to You from our hearts, humbly bringing our sin to You, and longing for forgiveness.

(A time of silence for personal reflection and prayers of confession)

P: O Lord, hear our prayer and have mercy on us.
C: Forgive our sin. Strengthen our faith. Give us a heart to serve You. Amen.
P: “In Christ Jesus we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7). Because of the generous grace of God, you are set free through faith for meaningful living. Go, thankful and forgiven in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
THE PSALM OF THE DAY…………………………...Psalm 31:19-21
P:Oh, how abundant is your goodness,
C: which you have stored up for those who fear you
P: and worked for those who take refuge in you,
C: in the sight of the children of mankind!
P: In the cover of your presence you hide them from the plots of men;
C: you store them in your shelter from the strife of tongues.
P: Blessed be the Lord,
C: for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me
P: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
C: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Gracious God, You Send Great Blessings…………………LSB 782
1 Gracious God, You send great blessings
New each morning all our days.
For Your mercies never ending,
For Your love we offer praise.
Lord, we pray that we, Your people
Who Your gifts unnumbered claim,
Through the sharing of Your blessings
May bring glory to Your name.

P: Lord God, You are a loving Father, gracious and generous to all Your children. You give without regard to how worthy we are of receiving. C: Amen.
P: This is the Word of the Lord.
C: Thanks be to God.
THE ANTHEM (7:30) "On Eagles' Wings Adult Bells

Jeffrey Honore CPH 1991
P: This is the Gospel of the Lord.
C: Praise be to You, O Christ ♫

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, Being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary And was made man; And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried; And the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures; And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father; And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead; whose kingdom will have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Spirit, The Lord and giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the Prophets. And I believe one holy Christian and Apostolic Church, I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead; and the life of the world to come. Amen.

For the Fruits of His Creation…………….……..LSB 894
1 For the fruits of His creation,
Thanks be to God.
For His gifts to ev’ry nation,
Thanks be to God.
For the plowing, sowing, reaping,
Silent growth while we are sleeping,
Future needs in earth’s safekeeping,
Thanks be to God.
2 In the just reward of labor,
God’s will is done.
In the help we give our neighbor,
God’s will is done.
In our worldwide task of caring
For the hungry and despairing,
In the harvests we are sharing,
God’s will is done.
3 For the harvests of the Spirit,
Thanks be to God.
For the good we all inherit,
Thanks be to God.
For the wonders that astound us,
For the truths that still confound us,
Most of all, that love has found us,
Thanks be to God.

Onward Christian Soldiers………………….LSB 662
1 Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
Christ, the royal master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle
See His banners go!
Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
2 Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod.
We are not divided,
All one body we,
One in hope and doctrine,
One in charity.
Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
3 Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane,
But the Church of Jesus
Constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never
’Gainst that Church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise,
And that cannot fail.
Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
4 Onward, then, ye faithful,
Join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song:
Glory, laud, and honor
Unto Christ, the king;
This through countless ages
Men and angels sing.
Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
