I. A SPOTLESS SACRIFICE
A. The Excellence of the sacrificial lamb--Ex. 12:5
Vs.5 "The lamb shall be unblemished..."
This was a Picture of the Perfect Lamb of God
I Cor. 15:22
II Cor. 5:21 "He made Him who knew no sin to become sin on our behalf..."

B. The Extent of the Lambs sacrifice
Ex. 12:98 "When you have killed it you shall roast it and eat it."
Matthew 26:27-28 "Take this and eat, this is my body.""
"Drink from it all of you for this is the blood of my Covenant."
John 6:35 "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never hunger and he
who believes in me will never thirst."
John 6:53 "Truly Truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and
drink His blood you have no life in yourselves."

C. The Exclusiveness of the Sacrifice
Each household had to apply the blood of the sacrifice to their own house
II. A SUFFICIENT SUBSTITUTE
Why was a sacrifice necessary?
Two Key Principles:
A. The Principle of the Significance of Blood
Hebrews 9:22 "...All things are cleansed with blood and without the shedding of blood there
is no forgiveness of sins."
I Peter 1:18-19 - “knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.”

B. The Principle of Substitutionary Blood
Genesis 9:6 - "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.”
Exodus 21:12 - “He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death.”
Leviticus 24:17: “If a man takes the life of any human being, he shall surely be put to death.”
Matthew 26:52 - “Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.”

Romans 5:8: "But God demonstrates His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
III. A SIGNIFICANT SACRIFICE
A. A Sign of Security
Exodus 11:6 - "Moreover, there shall be a great cry in all the land of Egypt, such as there has not been before and such as shall never be again.”
Exodus 11:7 - “But against any of the sons of Israel a dog shall not even bark whether against man or beast that you may understand how the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel."

Exodus 12:13 - “The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live... And when I see the blood I will pass over you and no plague will befall you to destroy you.”

1. It is a sign for the present
2. It is a sign for the future
The First Bowl: Sores and boils (Exodus 9:8-12)
The Second and Third Bowls: Plagues of the waters (Exodus 8:17-24)
The Fourth and Fifth Bowls: Plagues of the skies (Exodus 10:21-23)
The Sixth Bowl: Frogs performing signs (Ex. 8:1-4)

Mark of the Lamb: Revelation 7

Truth: God doesn't remove His people from tribulation; He secures them through it.

B. A Sign of Judgment
Four Instances of Negotiating
1. Ex. 8:25 - "Go, sacrifice to your God within the land."
2. Ex. 8:28 - "I will let you leave Egypt, just don't go too far."
3. Ex. 10:10 - "Go, but leave your children."
4. Ex. 10:24 - "Go, take your children, but leave your livestock."

C. A Sign of Faith for the People
