WORSHIP SEGMENT 7
2:30 - 3:00 p.m.
THE HYMN “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”…....LSB 425
1 When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride.
2 Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
Save in the death of Christ, my God;
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
3 See, from His head, His hands, His feet
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
4 Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a tribute far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all!

THE RESPONSIVE PSALM..............Portions of Psalm 18
Pastor: You have delivered Me from the attacks of the people;
People: You have made Me the head of nations; people I did not know are subject to Me.
Pastor: The Lord lives! Praise be to My Rock!
People: Exalted be God My Savior!
Pastor: He is the God who avenges Me,
People: Who subdues nations under Me.
Pastor: Who saves Me from My enemies.
People: You exalted Me above My foes; from violent men You rescued Me.
Pastor: Therefore I will praise You among the nations, O Lord;
People: I will sing praises to Your name.
Pastor: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
People: As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
THE PRAYER
Pastor: Dear Jesus, as You cried out “It is finished,” You proclaimed Your victory over our sin and our death. When You commended Your spirit to the Father, so You commended each of us to the Father’s eternal care. With hearts of thanks we praise You for the sacrifice of Your very life for us. As we have now died to sin, so make us alive unto righteousness that, with lives renewed, we proclaim You to be the Son of God, serving You and sharing Your Word of life with others. It is in Your most precious and holy name that we pray.
People: Amen.

THE HYMN “Jesus, in Your Dying Woes”…...LSB 447, stz. 19-21
19 Seventh Word: Luke 23:46
Jesus, all Your labor vast,
All Your woe and conflict past,
Yielding up Your soul at last:
Hear us, holy Jesus.
20 When the death shades round us low’r,
Guard us from the tempter’s pow’r,
Keep us in that trial hour:
Hear us, holy Jesus.
21 May Your life and death supply
Grace to live and grace to die,
Grace to reach the home on high:
Hear us, holy Jesus.

Pastor: My mouth is filled with Your praise.

Pastor: You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness,
People: O God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas.
Pastor: Praise the Lord, O my soul;
People: all my inmost being, praise His holy name.
Pastor: He redeems my life from the pit
People: and crowns me with love and compassion.
Pastor: Lord, hear my prayer,
People: and let my cry come before You.
Pastor: Dear Lord, You suffered and died that we might live. You experienced death and the grave so that we could experience life. You paid for the sins of the world by Your selfless gift of love. Help us to love others as You love us. Forgive us our failures, our weaknesses, and our rejection. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation! In Your Name we worship and we join to pray…
People: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
THE AGNUS DEI (sung softly - congregation stands)
