Responsive Reading
(Matthew, Mark, Luke, John)

Pastor Jonathan Der
Leader: The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. He did this to fulfill what is written in Isaiah,
People: “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”
Leader: The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem.
People: And as he rode along, many in the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
Leader: As he was drawing near - already on the way down the Mount of Olives - the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying,
People: “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
Leader: And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting,
All: “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

Bible Project: Overview of Deuteronomy

Watch the overview video on the book of Deuteronomy. In Deuteronomy, Moses gives final words of wisdom and warning before the Israelites enter the promised land, challenging them to be faithful to God. Look for the relevance of this Old Testament book in our lives today.
