About WestWay:
Our mission is simple: we want to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord. We're growing in three ways: our unity, our purpose and our love. This happens because of the power of the Holy Spirit. God is glorified. Lives are changed. People grow in their relationships with God and with others. We're glad you're here!

Series Overview and Additional Resources

How does the Bible “work”? What is it’s purpose? Where did it come from? How did we get it? Can we trust it? What does it mean for me? Join us as we wrestle with these (and other) questions as we survey the entire Bible together.

When we enter into a relationship with God, he connects us with other believers and joins us together into a body. We call this body “the church.” Like every body, there is a head, and the head of the church is Christ, and all matters within the church fall under His authority.
Questions about the Sermon or Anything Else?
Text QUESTION to 308-252-3273 and we will address them in our Tuesday Q&A Facebook Live video on Tuesdays at 11:15. The texts are anonymous to us and the public.
Additional Questions for Your Family, Small Group or in a Bible Study:
1- A Church is a creation of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-16). A church is a creation of Christ. Jesus builds his church using the gifts of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.

Read Ephesians 4:11-16, then respond to the questions below:

1- The responsibility of the leaders of the church is...

2- How long will the leaders do this?

3- Who is the standard of maturity in the church, and why does this matter?

4- What happens when the body is immature?

5- What does maturity look like in the church?

6- What happens if every part does not do its own special work?

Do you see the body at WestWay growing in maturity? Give specific examples.

2- A church is uniquely related to Christ as the Head of his body (Ephesians 1:22, 4:15-16). Jesus is Lord, We submit to his commands, to his ways, to his timeline, and his geography, We work with those he assigns with us and we serve and love those he assigns to us; these things are for our own benefit. This means that anything we do outside of his Lordship is wrong. It means if we delay, we are disobedient.

Read Ephesians 1:22 and Ephesians 4:15-16, then respond to the questions below:

1- What things are under the authority of Christ? Make a list of 8-10 things.

2- Why has God made Christ the head over all things?

3- In what ways does the church benefit from Christ being in charge, as opposed to a person?

How do you see and experience Christ as the head of the body at WestWay? Give specific reasons for your answer.

How well is the leadership at WestWay equipping the body in accordance with Ephesians 4:11-16? Give specific examples for your answer.

What role are you playing in the maturing and equipping of the body at WestWay (or in your local body of Christ)?

Recommended Resource

In Secret Church 9, David Platt looks at Scripture's teaching on the body of Christ, the church. This study will answer four foundational questions: Who is the church? What does the church do? How is the church led? Where is the church going? Although many Christians today have minimized or ignored the church, we'll see why the church is central as we seek to glorify God and carry out the Great Commission.
