•The Lament process is Turn-Complaint-Ask-Trust. Why do you think it’s important to move on to the practice of Ask rather than getting “stuck in the muck” of Complaint?
• Read Psalm 22 out loud together
1. Is there something from this passage or the sermon that really stuck out to you?
2. Where do you see the Ask part of Lament in this psalm?
1. Hebrews 4:16 says that we can approach God’s throne of grace with boldness and confidence, that we may find mercy and grace to help us in the time of need. If you were filming a movie scene of yourself approaching the throne of God, what would it look like? Describe it.
2a. What is “boldness” in prayer, and why can we approach God that way?
2b. Is there anything that keeps you from asking boldly?
3a. Hebrews 4:15 says that we have a High Priest who sympathizes with our weakness.
Circle all the things that Jesus experienced Himself:
hunger, thirst, physical pain, emotional pain, loss, betrayal, abandonment, misunderstanding, disappointment, false accusation, rejection, delay/waiting, heartbreak, longing, sorrow, grief, anger, injustice, evil, physical assault, death
3b. How does knowing that Jesus experienced these things affect the way you pray?

4. What kinds of things can we ask for in Lament?
Hint: Pastor Dan mentioned seven, but there can be more.
• What ONE THING do you want to ask of God? ASK Him.
