We want to welcome you to our services this morning!!
It is a joy to be in the house of the Lord.
If you are visiting with us for the first time, we would love to have a record of your visit, and we ask that you take time to fill out a visitor’s card and drop it into the offering plate during our services, or you could give it to one of our door greeters as you leave this morning.
We want to invite all to join us in one of our Sunday school classes that meet at 9am each Sunday morning. Sunday school is a great tool to help you dig into the Word of God, and a wonderful way to meet and fellowship with other believers. Sunday school is often overlooked by many, and I am convinced that when it is overlooked, you miss out on an important part of the discipleship process and growth in your walk with the Lord.
We offer classes for all ages and types and I am positive that we have a Sunday school class to meet your needs.
Have you ever tried so hard to achieve something but failed?
Have you ever been envious of someone else because of something they received, and you didn’t?
That is where our sermon takes us this morning. A look at the second words Jesus spoke from the cross. When we investigate the heart of Jesus as He was hanging there dying for the sins of mankind, in such agony and pain, Jesus was still focused on His mission – to save souls from hell.
As the thief that was being crucified right next to Jesus cried out that Jesus remember him, Jesus forgave that thief and, in that moment, that thief received salvation. When we compare that to the narrative of the rich young ruler who came to Jesus asking about salvation and letting Jesus know about all that he did to attain it – there was a different outcome. The rich young ruler tried to work his way in heaven, but the thief trusted Jesus to get there.
There are many in our world today that are just like the rich young ruler, they are counting on their good works, but they will never get into heaven until they become like the thief – trust in Jesus alone.
The Ladies of the church will be hosting a wedding reception/shower for Bryan and Ruth Ann Williamson on Saturday February 27th at 2pm in the fellowship hall. All are welcomed to attend and celebrate their wedding.
Men’s Breakfast will meet this coming Saturday morning in the fellowship hall at 7:15.
This is a great fellowship time for all of the men in the church to gather and encourage one another in their walk with the Lord.
We are currently planning a youth revival for March 14th-17th. This time of revival is not just for the youth but for the entire church. We are bringing in a young evangelist and music leader for the week. As our numbers in our youth continue to rise, I think it is prudent to set aside a special time for them to worship dedicated to reach them and their peers.
Please be in prayer for this revival effort.
Please take time to reach out to all of our shut-ins and those who are not coming regularly to our services, especially Mrs. Alberta Baker.
