II. MOSES’ POTENTIAL WAS A PROBLEM
Reasons Moses was hung up:
1. His past
2. His potential
Ex. 4:10 – “But Moses said to the LORD, “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.”
Notice: “Lord, I can’t do this!”
Contradiction!
Matt. 7:22-23 – “On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”
Two outcomes for comparing yourself to others:
1. You figure out that you are better than most people, and you get filled with pride.
2. You figure out that you are worse than most people, and you get filled with insecurity.
Truth: “God is not looking for capability, He’s looking for cooperation.”
Acts 17:24-25:
“The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, 25 nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.”
What did Moses have?
1. His Presence: The Signs
2. His People: Aaron
What do we have?
1. His Presence: The Indwelling Holy Spirit
2. His People: The Church
