This month's service will be led by Downtown Disciples. We confess white privilege. All proceeds from the offering will go to support prison visitation. Make checks payable to Trinity Las Americas. Coffee will be provided. The service will be live-streamed on Facebook.


Meet My Religious Neighbor: SAI GLOBAL AKHAND BHAJAN

Sat. Nov. 9 • 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM • SAI Home, 504 66th Court, West Des Moines Once in a year, SAI devotees all over the world come together to sing the Lord’s name for the welfare of the humanity. The orientation at 5:00 pm will cover SAI philosophy, SAI center activities and what to expect during the participation. Devotional singing starts at 6:00 pm. You may participate in the singing program as much time as you would like to. Different faith groups will participate in singing in different time slots allocated to them. Modest dress recommended. Please leave shoes in the garage before entering the SAI Home. In the Bhajan Hall, devotees don’t converse. A vegetarian dinner will be served starting at 7:00 pm.

Art and Activism Workshops for Teens: Art and Racial Justice

November 22–24 Friday / Tour and Reflection 6–9 pm Saturday / Workshop 9:30 am –3:30 pm Sunday / Showcase Noon – 3 pm. Learn about artists who highlight issues of discrimination, prejudice, and intolerance. Explore the topic of equity for all people of color as it pertains to education, employment, and other societal systems.  Take a look at traditional uses of costuming in cultures to empower individuals. Create personalized social justice-themed t-shirts as we discuss advocating for ourselves and our community.

DMARC Volunteer Opportunity: 2019 Hungry Turkey Half Marathon and 5K

Date: Sat, Nov 30, 2019 Time: 6:45 AM to 12:15 PM Location: Iowa State Capitol, E Locust St. and Pennsylvania Ave., Des Moines Every day someone in our community faces food insecurity, and DMARC is there to meet the need with a network of 14 partner food pantries and three mobile food pantries. We are looking for 60 volunteers to help coordinate and execute this year's Hungry Turkey Half Marathon and 5K; in exchange for your contributions of time and talent, DMARC will receive proceeds from the event to purchase food for our Food Pantry Network. Our organization assists 19,000 individuals monthly, 34% of whom are children, and 53,000 individuals were assisted by DMARC programs during the last fiscal year. Your help makes a huge difference in our ability to meet this overwhelming need!

Meet My Religious Neighbor: Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Date: December 12 Time: 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm Location: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Avenue, West Des Moines, IA 50265, The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is very important to Catholic Christians of Mexican descent. The day commemorates several appearances of the Virgin Mary to a peasant named Juan Diego, and the miraculous sign of roses blooming in December. Folkloric Dancing will begin at 6:00 pm in the Parish Center. Mass will be held at 7:00 pm, with food and dancing to follow in the Parish Hall.
