Conversation Starter
When do you feel the most free to be yourself?
Begin your study with prayer
Pause for a few minutes to quiet your heart and mind. Ask God to help you experience His love and hear His voice as you reflect on this week’s lesson.
Bible Study and Group Discussion

Read Galatians 5:13-14.
1. We can live in freedom because of the forgiveness Jesus provides us. What do you think it means to live in freedom?
2. Why would it be damaging to you or others to use your freedom to satisfy your flesh/sinful nature?
3. How would it benefit you or others to use your freedom to serve one another in love?
4. Which verse is most significant to you? Why?
5. While you serve, how might your suffering reveal the life of Jesus?
6. What would cause you to give thanks to God in the midst of suffering?
7. What serving opportunities would you like to explore?
8. What’s one way you’d like to serve someone this week?
9. What causes you to feel like giving up?
10. What can help you persevere according to verses 16-18?
Spiritual Practice
Spiritual Practices help us experience the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives. They’re meant to be more than one-time actions, becoming a natural part of our lives.

Read Galatians 5:13. Ask God to show you a way to serve someone this week, then carry out the act of service.
Memory Verse
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. Galatians 5:13 (NLT)
Prepare for Next Sunday
Sunday, January 17, we’ll begin a new series called Running from God. Read the short book of Jonah to prepare for the series, then read Jonah 1:1-3 to prepare for the first message on rebellion.
Why Jesus?
If you’ve never experienced God’s forgiveness and grace, we’d love the opportunity to talk with you about a life-changing relationship with Jesus. Email thepastors@brookwoodchurch.org or call 864.688.8200
