CONFESSION OF SIN / DECLARATION OF GRACE
Lord God, our lives are filled with sin. We forget our neighbor's needs

SERMON: "Proof of Faith" - 1 Peter 1:1-25

“The proof of your faith is in the life you lead. What is a life of genuine faith built upon?”

1. Our Living Hope

2. Our Little While

3. Our Life’s Blueprint

“A genuine faith is a genuine blessing to all it touches.”
APPLICATION QUESTIONS:
1. What is the role and impact of “hope” in a person’s life? What are some things we commonly hope for? What happens to someone in absence of hope? Biblical hope depends on a Person and not a circumstance. Why is this essential to our faith? Read the following passages and discuss the principles they describe regarding hope: Psalm 3:7; 131:3; Romans 15:13; 1 Timothy 6:17; Hebrews 10:23.
2. We have repeatedly spoken to the suffering and discipline that is normally part of a Christian’s life. Discuss ways in which you have been called to suffer for your faith, or ways in which the Lord has brought discipline to your life. What is the purpose of this suffering? How has suffering and discipline “refined” you?
3. Review as a group verses 13-25 and identify the variety of exhortations Peter provides on how we are to be living as Christians in the world today. How does your own life look in comparison? What are areas that can be improved through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit? And what is to be our motive for living out a genuine faith (see vv. 18-19)?
4. The Word of God takes a prominent role in this passage. What do we learn about the Word, and what implications does this have for our lives?
5. What is a single take-away for you and how will your life be changed by today’s sermon?
