The Importance of the Ministry of the Holy Spirit
I. The Advantage that the Holy Spirit Brings
DEFINE: Advantage - a Benefit that places Us in a Favorable or Superior Position.
John 16:7 (NKJV) Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
PRINCIPLE 1: God never Intended for His Church to be Independent of the Holy Spirit’s Presence and Power, that’s why He sent the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost to Birth His Church!
Acts 2:1–4 (NKJV) When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
A. Jesus did not Begin His Ministry until He Received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
Luke 3:22 (NKJV) And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
B. The Disciples did not Begin their Ministry until They Received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Luke 24:49 (NKJV)“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
II. The Importance of the Ministry of the Holy Spirit Today
John 6:63 (NKJV)It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
A. Walking in the Spirit
1 Corinthians 14:14 (NKJV) For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
PRINCIPLE 2: Our Spirit is the Part of Us that has been Born-Again; as Followers of Christ We must Learn how to Live Our Life by Drawing from Our Spirit instead of being Led by Our Intellect (the Flesh Nature).
B. Drawing from the Holy Spirit
Jude 20 (NKJV) But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

B. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit brings Transformation
1. The Disciples Desert Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane
Mark 14:27–31 (NIV)27 “You will all fall away,” Jesus told them, “for it is written:“ ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ 28 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”29 Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not.” 30 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times.”31 But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the others said the same.
2. The Disciples were Transformed by the Holy Spirit
Acts 2:14–17 (NIV)14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 “ ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
C. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit Empowers Us with Boldness
Acts 4:13 (NKJV)Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
PRINCIPLE 5: The Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the Evidence of Speaking in Tongues Transforms Our Lives by Giving Us Power to Live for Jesus as a Bold Witness!

PRINCIPLE 7: The Ministry of the Holy Spirit Reveals and Expresses the Power of the Kingdom of God on the Earth.
