We are a family striving to be relevant, connected people, radically changed by the love of Jesus, impacting our neighbors, near and far with transforming truth and dynamic compassion.
God is Defining the Expectations of His Relationship with Us
Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain and said, “This is what you are to say to the descendants of Jacob and what you are to tell the people of Israel:
Exodus 19:3
‘You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.
Exodus 19:4
Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, 6 you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.”
Exodus 19:5
Moses said to the LORD, “The people cannot come up Mount Sinai, because you yourself warned us, ‘Put limits around the mountain and set it apart as holy.’”
Exodus 19:23
Qadosh = Hb. Holy
Set apart. Observed for special use
On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled.
Exodus 19:16
Then Moses led the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled violently.
Exodus 19:17-18
As the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him.
Exodus 19:19
Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”
Exodus 20:20
1. Make Following Me Your First Priority
2. No Idols. Serve God alone, only God.
Idolatry comes in two forms: Ascribing magical powers to a thing or making something more important than God.
3. Don’t misuse God’s name. Don’t use spiritual language to cover up a dark heart.
4. Honor God by ceasing your constant work. Honor the Sabbath. This is a spiritual discipline and its neglect is a slow destroyer.
5. Honor your parents. Even when it’s hard, give them respect. Show value.
6. Don’t kill, hold grudges, forgive.
7. Remain sexually pure. Don’t give in to lust. God owns your heart.
8. You must become a giver and not a taker.
9. Be a person of integrity. Let truth flow.
10. Quit coveting. Refuse to give in to envy and jealousy. You can’t simultaneously love the person and desire their stuff
God is giving himself to these people as their God before they even have a commandment. They haven’t kept anything yet but he has already said “I am your God.
How are we doing with holiness?
Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey.”
Exodus 24:7
Oh God, take away our desire for lesser things, that our hearts may beat in rhythm with Yours. May we live and breathe as one who is saved, spoken for, called and made holy for such a time as this. Overwhelm us with the longing to follow and obey you that we might give you full access to our story . . . the beginning, the messy middle and the end which is held securely in your hands.

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."Malachi 3:10
