First Immanuel Lutheran Ministries
5:00pm, 7:30 & 9:00am Worship - Cedarburg
AS WE GATHER we encounter situations and circumstances in our lives that bring us to our knees, that wipe out everything we've known. When faced with the wind and waves of the storms, we are easily overwhelmed. But there is a God speaking in the midst of the whirlwind, and his words to you today are "PEACE! Be still!"

THE OPENING HYMN “Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven”…LSB 793
1 Praise, my soul, the King of heaven;
To His feet your tribute bring;
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
Evermore His praises sing:
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King.

2 Praise Him for His grace and favor
To His people in distress;
Praise Him still the same as ever,
Slow to chide and swift to bless:
Alleluia, alleluia!
Glorious in His faithfulness.
THE INVOCATION AND OPENING VERSES

P: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.

P: Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, (Psalm 107:1-3)
C: for his steadfast love endures forever!
P: Let the redeemed of the Lord say so,
C: whom he has redeemed from trouble,
P: and gathered in from the lands,
C: from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

WE CONFESS OUR SIN AND RECEIVE GOD’S FORGIVENESS:
P: As we gather in God’s house, we recognize that God is in control of all things, and we are subject to God’s will. And we know that we are supposed to “give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ” (1 Thess. 5:18). We turn to God now, confessing to Him our failure to have thankful hearts, our failure to do God’s will, and our failure to submit to His good plan:
C: Lord God, we know You are in control. In our sin and brokenness we don’t look to the Cross. We fail to see Your blessings and instead, focus on our sufferings. We give You thanks that You let us approach You, and You hear our confession. May we, by Your grace, rejoice in Your steadfast love that never fails.
P: Even as we have fallen as followers of Jesus, God extends mercy to us. Rejoice, because God hears Your prayers. Give thanks, because you stand forgiven and free before God our Creator. Live in the confession of thanks, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen! His steadfast love endures forever!

PSALMODY
P: Open to me the gates of righteousness, that I may enter them,
C: And give thanks to the Lord.
P: This is the gate of the Lord;
C: The righteous shall enter through it.
P: I thank you that you have answered me
C: And have become my salvation. Ps. 118:19-21
P: Give thanks to the God of Gods,
C: For his steadfast love endures forever.
P: Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
C: For his steadfast love endures forever. Ps. 136:2-3
P: I give You thanks, O Lord with my whole heart;
C: I give thanks to Your name for Your steadfast love and faithfulness.
P: On the day I called, You answered me;
C: my strength of soul You increased. Ps. 138:1-3
P: This is the day that the Lord has made;
C: Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Ps. 118:24
P: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit;
C: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

THE HYMN OF PRAISE: “Now Thank We All Our God”….
All praise and thanks to God
The Father now be given,
The Son, and Him who reigns
With them in highest heaven,
The one eternal God,
Whom earth and heav’n adore;
For thus it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.

THE PRAYER OF THE DAY
P: Lord God, heavenly Father, You see us through all trials, storms, calamities, and heartbreaks. Speak to our hearts today, let us hear Your peace through Christ, let us feel the stillness that comes from knowing You will see us through it all. In Jesus' name.
C: Amen.
P: This is the Word of the Lord.
C: Thanks be to God.
P: This is the Word of the Lord.
C: Thanks be to God

P: This is the Gospel of the Lord.
C: Praise be to You, O Christ. ♫
APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE SERMON HYMN…“Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me”
1 Jesus, Savior, pilot me
Over life’s tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll,
Hiding rock and treach’rous shoal.
Chart and compass come from Thee.
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

2 As a mother stills her child,
Thou canst hush the ocean wild;
Boist’rous waves obey Thy will
When Thou say’st to them, “Be still!”
Wondrous Sov’reign of the sea,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

3 When at last I near the shore
And the fearful breakers roar
Twixt me and the peaceful rest,
Then, while leaning on Thy breast,
May I hear Thee say to me,
“Fear not, I will pilot thee.”
