Daniel 3
Parallel Text: Deuteronomy 4:20-24, “But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be a people of his own inheritance, as you are this day…. For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.”
1. Pay No Attention
Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
Daniel 3:12, “These men pay no attention….” Phrases like “Have nothing to do with…” are mentioned so many times! See Eph 5:11; Col 3:5; 1 Tim 4:7; 2 Tim 2:23, 3:5; Titus 3:10; 2 John 1:10.
2. Even Though and Even If
2 Timothy 1:7, Fan into flame the gift of God…“God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

Daniel 3:12, 30. Even though they were appointed and promoted…
Daniel 3:17-18. Even if God does not rescue…
3. Ruins For A Footstool
“Set your minds on things that are above,” where Christ is, “not on things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2).
Yet Christ is with us, Daniel 3:25, “But I see four men….”
Daniel 3:27, God’s glory even overcomes the scent of suffering.
Don’t ask to see a way out, ask to see Him in His splendor. See Acts 7:55-56, “But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.””
Office closed Thursday and Friday
The church office and building is closed on Thursday and Friday this week so our staff may spend the holiday with their loved ones.

‘Rediscover Christmas’ Advent Reading Plan available
First Baptist Church will be learning to “Rediscover Christmas” this Advent season. We’re pairing this theme with our readings in The Gospel Project from Nov. 29 through Dec. 27. An optional Advent Reading Plan for the ‘Rediscover Christmas’ series is available in the sanctuary lobby or you may download it at If you need one mailed to you, please call the office.

Salvation Army tree offers opportunity to help families in need
The Missions Board has placed a Christmas tree in the sanctuary lobby with names of families in need. Each tag will have a family's name and their requests. Spending does not need to exceed $100. If interested in helping a family for Christmas, take a tag from the tree. Your items and tag must be returned to the church by Dec. 13. See Dale Braun if you have questions.
