Digressions: When God Has Other Plans
Second Corinthians is the most autobiographical of Paul’s letters. Paul lifts the veil on his private life and allows us to catch a glimpse of his human frailties and needs. Paul spells out the details of his persecution, loneliness, imprisonments, beatings, feelings of despair, hunger, shipwrecks, sleepless nights and some “thorn in the flesh” that the Lord never healed for him; giving him grace instead. Talk about digressions! Welcome to Stone's Hill!

We welcome you to Stone's Hill today!

A typical Stone's Hill service has music (feel free to sing out); some announcements (things that are upcoming that you can be a part of); a message out of the Bible (God speaks to us through his Word); and an opportunity for you to respond to the message (either immediately in the case of a decision that needs to be made OR in the future as you live out the message in your life.)

So relax and enjoy your morning! We're so glad you are here!
Message Plan for Today
1. Opening Remarks / New Series on 2 Corinthians
2. Comfort zone adjustments
3. "Thorn in the flesh" and other pleasantries
4. Closing
Adapting to Any New Situation
(Lisabeth Saunders Medlock)

1. It’s okay to be emotional.
2. You can give yourself permission to be vulnerable: Some of us like to project an image of being strong and fearless, but sometimes it’s not the truth.
3. You are never alone: Sometimes when we go through major changes we think we are dealing with something no one else can understand or no one else is going through.
4. You have to ask for help: Often people don’t know what to say or what to do.
5. You can adapt to anything.
6. You have to have hope for the future: I’ve been given news that there is no hope for a change in my sight and have been through two surgeries that did not improve it.
7. You will grow as a person, but you are still the same: Going through a change, especially one that is traumatic, changes you forever.

Our Future - Pastor Joey Nelson Offers These Thoughts
It’s not too early to begin to think about how we can leverage a debt-free position toward Kingdom gains. There are several possibilities to think about. Among them, I offer these…
~Win the heart of the city (practical acts of service).
~Touch the lives of the displaced (interim housing).
~Enhance, maintain, and upgrade our current facilities (roof replacement, parking lot, heating-cooling units)
~Offer top-rated marriage and family events (live events).
~Stay debt-free so as to keep our options open (absorb loss of tax exempt status).
~Welcome the marginalized (a place that meets practical needs).
