<< JESUS IS BETTER! >>

Week 2 Review
Better Than the Angels Pt. 1

What are angels?
• They are spirit beings made by God prior to creation
• They appear to all have free will
• They are not flesh and blood, but can manifest as humans
• They are gender-less, but appear as males in the scriptures
• They possess power granted by God
• They either stand with God or in opposition to God
• They are divided into 2 groups: Good and Fallen (Led by Lucifer)
• They are unable to be redeemed

1. Jesus is better than the angels because of His Position
• He is The Son (1:4-5)
• He is Worshipped (1:6)
• He is Served (1:7)
• He is Eternal (1:8-12)
• He is Sovereign (1:13-14)
Week 3:
“Better Than the Angels Pt. 2”
(Hebrews 2)

2. Jesus is better than the angels because of His Incarnation.

Defined:
(1) that act of grace whereby Christ took our human nature into union with his Divine Person, became man. Christ is both God and man. (Easton's Bible Dictionary)
(2) As a biblical teaching, incarnation refers to the affirmation that God, in one of the modes of His existence as Trinity and without in any way ceasing to be the one God, has revealed Himself to humanity for its salvation by becoming human. Jesus, the Man from Nazareth, is the incarnate Word or Son of God, the focus of the God-human encounter. (Holman Bible Dictionary)

• He was subjected to an "earth bound" life.
• He was subjected to human frailty & limitations.
A Summary of His Incarnation:
1. The weight of His Words
A Summary of His Incarnation:
1. The weight of His Words

According to our text and others, the angels were involved in ushering in the law and punishing offenders of the law. (See Deut. 33:2, Psalm 68:17, Acts 7:53, and Gal. 3:19)

Angels could see the problem, but could not solve the problem.
A Summary of His Incarnation:
1. The weight of His Words
2. The worth of His Actions
A Summary of His Incarnation:
1. The weight of His Words
2. The worth of His Actions

We, like the angels, can see our problem, but are unable to solve our problem. But Jesus came to be the solution to our problem.

The solution to our brokenness is Beyond us, but He who is Above us, came and dwelt Among us, so He could Redeem us!

Man lower than the angels = We have limited power and access to God and experience death.

Jesus became lower than the angels in that He placed our limitations upon Himself.
• His situation was Temporary.
• His situation was Necessary.

Jesus is better than the angels because He came to redeem us and restore us!
In Conclusion:
Jesus recaptured for mankind what was lost through the fall in the Garden of Eden. His words and actions serve notice to all who seek to live in rebellion to His authority. Those who willingly submit to His authority NOW, will be granted LATER a role of authority in His Kingdom which surely will come.
