What does it mean to edify, build up or repair someone (encourage)?
When was the last time you came alongside someone else and encouraged them by walking with them through troubled times, and vice versa?
How did that make you feel?
Describe how encouragement from others helped you get through a season of life?
When have you failed to encourage someone else?
Where in Scripture do we see commands to encourage one-another?
Think about the people in your life, where do each of them need encouragement (to be edified, built up and repaired?).
Below are five points to help you better encourage others. Discuss each one and how you can begin to grow into it:
1. Turn to the Scriptures
2. Be Specific
3. Be Intentional
4. Be Selfless
5. Be Courageous
As a family or a Gospel Community, spend some time right now encouraging each other. Speak to each other about how the Gospel speaks to our greatest need to be edified and repaired.
