Welcome to First Baptist today!

JESUS-->

We pray because we have a relationship.
Prayer without relationship is just noise.

Our closest relationships are with those we talk to daily, spouse, children, neighbors, etc.

We pray to God, our creator, and the one who sent his son Jesus. He is the God of amazing love, mercy, and forgiveness. We also need his help. He is the only one who has done all of this for us, and is the only one who is able to do this for us. We need protection from Satan.

JESUS-->PAUL-->

Paul was radically changed by Jesus on the road to Damascus. He learned that a relationship meant he now had the power, and could see clearly what God's purpose was for him.
JESUS-->PAUL-->ME/YOU-->

We pray for forgiveness, for God's will, for understanding and wisdom, with thanksgiving, to worship. God has given us the ability to approach Him in intimacy, and he promises to hear our prayers, and be there with us. There is nothing we can't pray about.

We have been given POWER to SEE CLEARLY and GRASP the LOVE OF CHRIST to PROCLAIM the GOSPEL sharing LIFE with others!

JESUS-->PAUL-->ME/YOU-->CHURCH-->

Why Church?

Because we are a "body of believers" who have a relationship with God, our creator, through Jesus, and we come together to pray! We pray that all would be happy, healthy, and ready to share the Gospel. Here's an interesting idea from Ephesians 3:10. The Church not only is proclaiming the Gospel to people on earth, but also to the "heavenly realms!"

Here's a great video that can help you pray!

Now is the time for the Church to share the Gospel. Paul was calling them out then, and we need to be called out now! Its always been our purpose together. We pray, we come together, we pray, and we go! That’s God’s purpose for the Church, and if we have a relationship with him, that’s the only option you have. No works are going to accomplish this purpose. Only an intimate relationship with the one who created you. You have to talk to HIM!
Rodney "Gypsy" Smith--The following is a quote from The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson

He never received a formal education, yet he lectured at Harvard. He was born in a gypsy tent, yet he was summoned to the White House to meet two presidents. Born in the Epping Forest outside of London in 1860, Rodney “Gypsy” Smith crisscrossed the Atlantic Ocean forty-five times, preaching the gospel to millions. Few evangelists have preached with more passion. His secret? Private prayer. More powerful than his preaching was his praying.
Gypsy’s secret was revealed to a delegation of revival seekers, who asked him how God could use them, just as he was using Gypsy. Without hesitation, Gypsy said, “Go home. Lock yourself in your room. Kneel down in the middle of the floor, and with a piece of chalk draw a circle around yourself. There, on your knees, pray fervently and brokenly that God would start a revival within that chalk circle.”
Every year I have had the privilege to not only create and schedule youth events, but pray that God would use me to impact each group of teenagers through everything I do. A week ago we again, I had the opportunity to see prayer answered before my eyes!

Mission Trip 2018--Before

Mission Trip 2018--After

What can I do?
Here are some practical steps to help you pray. Talk to God as a friend, all the time. Read the Bible to help you. Pray using reminders of you life.

* Use familiar things to guide you. (Nature, Animals, News, Sirens)
* When you think of someone pray for them. (Relatives, Neighbors
Children, Leaders)
* Pray where you are. (Home, Driving, Work, Play)
* Use each day to help you focus. (Sun.-Church, Mon.-Family, etc.)
* Pray emotions out loud with words! (Happiness, Anger, etc..)
* Draw the circle in your house, office, garage. Get in it!
WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
ALL OUR SINS AND GREIFS TO BEAR
WHAT A PRIVILEDGE TO CARRY
EVERYTHING TO GOD IN PRAYER
OH WHAT PEACE WE OFTEN FORFEIT
OH WHAT NEEDLESS PAIN WE BEAR
ALL BECAUSE WE DO NOT CARRY
EVERYTHING TO GOD IN PRAYER
