There is a problem in the church with spiritual urban legends in the church- beliefs that look valuable at first glance, but reveal themselves to be worthless. These legends sound plausible, they come from reputable sources, and we often accept them without question because who are we to question such true-sounding statements? In fact, I’ve met people who feel like they are bad Christians for simply questioning the veracity of one of these urban legends.
Spiritual urban legends aren’t harmless at all. They are dangerous and will eventually bring heartache and disillusionment to those who trust them.
But Jesus said that the truth will set you free!

Too many people continue to languish in misery because instead of walking in freedom, they choose bondage.
Sin grows best in the dark. It’s when you confess it,
