Do You See Me?
Genesis 16 & 22
“Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.” She also said, “Have I truly seen the One who sees me?”

Genesis 16:13 (NLT)
“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7 (NLT)
“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”

Psalm 139:16 (NLT)
“I will watch over and care for them, and I will bring them back here again. I will build them up and not tear them down.”

Jeremiah 24:6 (NLT)
What it means to be seen…

“The Lord looks down from heaven and sees the whole human race. 14 From his throne he observes all who live on the earth. 15 He made their hearts, so he understands everything they do.”

Psalm 33:13-15 (NLT)
To be UNDERSTOOD.

“But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.”

Matthew 6:6 (NLT)
To be ENCOURAGED.

“But as the Ark of the Lord entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she was filled with contempt for him.”

“David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord.22 Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes!”

2 Samuel 6:16; 21-22 (NLT)
To BE FREE.

“The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

2 Chronicles 16:9 (NLT)
“But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. 30 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”

Matthew 10:29-30 (NLT)
“But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 At that moment the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Suddenly, the Lord’s words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.” 62 And Peter left the courtyard, weeping bitterly.”

Luke 22:60-62 (NLT)
*Assignment: Think of two people whose good works go unnoticed and communicate the good things you see them doing.
