Greatness in the Kingdom, by God’s definition, is about service, not status. It’s not about hierarchy but humility. It’s not about greed, but about gratitude.
Jesus tells what is going to happen to him in Jerusalem
After Jesus tells what is going to happen to him, two disciples tell Jesus what they want to happen for them. (Mark 10: 35-40)
Jesus tells the disciples the full answer to why everything is happening. (Mark 10:41-45)
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Ransom was used to define the price paid to bring a prisoner of war out of his captivity.
What does this story of Jesus going to Jerusalem mean to you and me?
Jesus’ words and actions tell us we need someone to do something for us we cannot do ourselves.
“Three days later he will rise.” (Mark 10: 34)
“We live in a world where God raised his son from the dead.”
