Comfortable with Uncomfortable

Questions:
Is life supposed to be comfortable?
Does living by faith make life easy?
Does following Christ provide comfort for us or create challenges for us ... or both?
The prophet warns the affluent of Israel about their addiction to comfort and convenience and self-indulgence
Amos 6:1-7 ... Woe to those who are complacent, who lounge in luxury, and care nothing about the distress of others
Paul the Apostle engages in an uncomfortable dialogue with the believers in Corinth in his second letter to them
His writing is candid, even blunt, but always intended to be redemptive
II Corinthians 1:3-7 ... Suffering is expected, God comforts the grieving, so we can comfort others
II Corinthians 7:8-11 ... God comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable
II Corinthians 13:5, 8, 10-14 ,,, Our faith is tested, so that we can grow stronger
Practical Application Question: What should we do when we feel uncomfortable in church, in our interaction with other Christians?
Level One: When we are irritated ... let it go (show some maturity)
Level Two: When we are offended ... if it interferes with a relationship, face it, work to resolve it and reconcile
Level Three: When there is abuse ... if there is a pattern of wounding, call it out, expect the leadership of a church to address it and stop it
When we are uncomfortable because we are being challenged/convicted by God's Word ... welcome it, embrace it, learn from it, be open to change
Ultimately, God cares much more about your character than your comfort level and will do what it takes to transform you into the image of Christ
