The Sower and the Seed

Mark 4:1-11 CSB
Again he began to teach by the sea, and a very large crowd gathered around him. So he got into a boat on the sea and sat down, while the whole crowd was by the sea on the shore. 2 He taught them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them, 3 “Listen! Consider the sower who went out to sow. 4 As he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. 5 Other seed fell on rocky ground where it didn’t have much soil, and it grew up quickly, since the soil wasn’t deep. 6 When the sun came up, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns came up and choked it, and it didn’t produce fruit. 8 Still other seed fell on good ground and it grew up, producing fruit that increased thirty, sixty, and a hundred times.” 9 Then he said, “Let anyone who has ears to hear listen.”

10 When he was alone, those around him with the Twelve asked him about the parables. 11 He answered them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to those outside, everything comes in parables

Sermon points:

1. A generous dispersion
2. A varying response
3. A fruitful perseverance

Save a Seat

We still need you to “Save a Seat” to help us distribute people between both services. You can save your seat by going to our Re-Gathering page.

We are so glad to be back together again! Wondering what it will look like to bring your infant through 2nd grader to SV Kids? Our SVKids team works hard to get everything ready for your children on Sunday morning. You can find out more on the SVKids Facebook page at With social distancing guidelines in place, we are limited on the number of children we can have in our classrooms. To pre-register your child(ren) you will go to our Re-Gathering page. The same place you will go to save a seat for worship!

CR Etown

CR is a place for everyone, where you can deal with the hurts, habits, and hang-ups of life. At CR, we are following the same regulations as we are following for our Sunday Worship Services: masks, social distancing and disinfecting guidelines are followed strictly. For more information, check out or head to Celebrate Recovery ETown on Facebook.

SV Students

Our Connect Live service is Sundays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Doors open at 5:15 pm. We ask that all students and leaders wear a mask the entire time. Chairs are spaced out at 6 ft for the students to sit safely away from one another while still being able to worship together. One last thing we need from your student(s) before they come to service is to print and fill out the COVID-19 liability form on our website You can bring the form with you when you come to service or email it to us at
Many of our faithful folks who serve are actually in the high-risk group for the virus and so they must be very cautious right now. So that opens the door of opportunity for those of you that feel comfortable attending the worship services not only to worship but to serve. You can be a worshiper and a servant all at the same time all during the same worship service. Email Pastor Joe at and let him know you're willing to serve and we will contact you. There are still opportunities to serve in SV Kids as well. Just indicate that in your email. Please know that when you serve, you will not only be blessed but you'll be a blessing!

Small Groups

The best way to stay connected with our church family is by being involved in a Small Group. While our groups are still meeting Virtually, it is a great way to meet new people and when we are able, you can join your small group in person when they meet.

Continue to Pray

Please continue to pray for our national, state and local leaders, our Staff and Church Council, our Lead Pastor Search Team, our church members, and those attending and watching our services who are new to SV. We are praying for you! Let us know if you need anything or if we can pray with you in any way. 🙏🏻

SV Updates

We hope you all are well and being safe in the current COVID-crisis. While our Small Groups are still meeting Virtually, our desire is for our On Campus and Off Campus Small Groups to begin meeting soon. Click the link for our latest updates.
