Biography for Joseph Salajan
Pastor Joe was born in the little town of Crasna (Romania). Ever since he was a child, he has been fascinated by the unique connection between pastors and their special book, the Bible. When at the age of 7 he received his first little Bible from a brave pastor who was able to procure it for him in spite of the interdictions of the communist regime, he felt special and decided one day he would become a pastor.

After serving as a Pastor for 8 years in Romania, in 2013 he immigrated to the USA. He currently serves as Lead Pastor of Plantation Seventh-day Adventist Church. Along with his wonderful wife Anda and their gorgeous daughter Alessandra, he enjoys proclaiming God’s grace and ministering to his fellows.

By God's grace, in February 2020 he completed my doctoral program obtaining a Doctor of Ministry degree in Preaching/Homiletics from Andrews University. His hobbies are languages, music, and poetry.

Sermon Theme:

We are all running the risk of becoming a root of bitterness that can contaminate others. Jesus can replace bitterness with sweetness!

1. Idolatry

NKJ Deuteronomy 29:18So that there may not be among you man or woman or family or tribe, whose heart turns away today from the LORD our God, or wormwood.
This passage has been often misinterpreted as to be talking about plants that could possibly be used as drugs… BUT the context clearly indicates that here the root of bitterness and the wormwood refer to men and women that go and serve the gods of these nations= idolatry!
People in the “global village” are subjugated by the “little gods” of globalization Pet sins, vices, technology, consumerism, professional achievements, crazy ideas and the human dominate around us, and many times within us… Humankind has turned its back to God. People have no God! All they have left is “O, my God!”( But even worse than coarseatheism, is the “ of those that are sitting in the pews: sweetworshiperson the outside, but bitteridolaterson the inside. And SDA are no exception to that! “The fool says (Ps. 14:1/Ps. 53:1).
2. Inequity/Injustice

NKJ Amos 6:12Do horses run on rocks? Does one plow there with oxen? Yet you have

Over the centuries, billions of people dreamed to come to America because they couldn’t suffer injustice any longer. You might be one of those people that have left homeland, house, heritage and half of your hoping that America is the place you will be given equal chances
Or you are a descendant of those that never planned to come here. From the very beginning, the history of this “great nation” has been stained by the most brutal acts of injustice: genocide, slavery, racism, segregation and all sorts of other discriminations. There is a cry for justice in the human being, but where is justice? Where is justice…?
Although sin has distorted the Imago Dei in us, we still carry in our fiber that sense of good and wrong… You may think: at least the church should be a place where everybody gets equal treatment… And you are right! Christ’s church should promote God’s Kingdom and should apply its principles! Woe to the church, woe to the church-leaderswoe to the pastors that consciously treats people unjustly and promote injustice…! But alas!!!
People will treat you unjustlyoutside the church, and sometimes inside the church. You will experience inequityoutside your family, and sometimes inside your family, but how about you? If you’re a follower of Jesus Christ, you will be treated unjustly… by others…? But have you been unjustly condemning others…? Brothers and sisters, never become complacent with wormwood, never get used to injustice!
3. Iniquity

NKJ Jeremiah 4:18"Your ways and your doings have procured these things for you. This is your wickedness, because it is My paraphrase: How it bites your heart…)
Hatred: “Don’t rob me of my privilege to hate him the most…” – somebody said.
Unforgiveness: the poison you drink hoping that the other person will die.
Bitter words that have the bitter taste of your tongue… “Don’t bite your tongue, lest you’ll poison yourself...” words you can’t have back, WORDS that linger…
There is solution, there is cure; there is balm
Heb. 12:14:Pursue (
Watch this:

In the church, if you only pursue peace, it will lead you to lawlessness. If you only pursue holiness, it will lead you to legalism. Lawlessness will result in iniquity. Legalism will generate inequity. Lawlessness and legalism: two extremely dangerous ditches…
If Jesus only followed peace, He would preserve us in sin! If He only followed holiness, He would destroy us in sin! But He followed both peace and holiness, and thus He saves us from sin!!! He became human in order to reconcile us to God. Not because He was angry with us, but because we were angry with Him. This reconciliation is the foundation of our holiness. Without it, holiness is nothing but a chimera, an illusion and a delusion.“Pursue peace and holiness…” In other words, be human and holy as an ambassador of Christ.
There is a story in the Old Testament where people were bitten by fierce serpents and were dying… God asked Moses to make a bronze serpent… and those who looked up to it in faith did not die…! Jesus Christ, the bronze serpent, can gather all the bitterness of sin! “For He made Him who knew no sin (2 Corinthians 5:21). Ellen White says that Jesus’ humanity shrank from the cup of bitterness, and yet, He drank it all… This is love! This is the sweet miracle of grace!God is love (1 John 4:8) and the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, sweet LOVE!
Ellen Whitesaid: Love is a plant of heavenly growth, and it must be fostered and nourished.” (Adventist Home, 50) By God’s grace, you can be that plant!
Jesus can make you a recipient of His sweet love. He can make you an ambassador of His glorious, glimmering Kingdom, where there willbe no more bitterness, only sweetness!
One Solution

Have you had wormwood lately? If yes, you might be bitter… You might have bitter resentment in your heart. But have you given anybody wormwood lately? If yes, you probably are bitter… You probably have remorse in you hart…
For both remorse and , there is one solution, and that is REPENTANCE!
