Poulsbo, Washington
Maybe you have had someone step up in your defense. It fills you with gratitude that someone came to your rescue. Feelings of gratefulness, and “I can’t believe you would do that.” The feeling is magnified when someone steps into our “guilt” and offers freedom.

Here's what's going on:
1. The woman was guilty.
2. It takes two.
3. The leaders were using the woman as a trap.
4. They covered their potential, and probable, role.
We all stand in need for forgiveness.

Satan: Look at your sinfulness.
God: Look to Jesus
We all stand guilty and in need of forgiveness. And the Way of Jesus is to place our complete trust in him.
Our response to failure and guilt either moves us toward God or away from God.
BLUF: Confessed sin is covered sin.
Ways to attempt ridding ourselves of guile:
1. Blame shift
2. Rationalize
3. Numb ourselves in all kinds of ways
4. Become more generous, like a sin offering
BLUF: Jesus steps into our story and forgives us, releasing us from the guilt of our sin.
BLUF: As we have been forgiven, the way of Jesus calls us to forgive.
