Welcome to Agincourt Church this morning! We're so glad you have joined us today.

This is week 2 of our 5 week series, "Conversations About The Holy Spirit". Today's teaching, "The Spirit As Guide", is by Pastor Jonathan Smith, Lead Pastor.

See below for a short article from Pastor Jonathan, teaching notes and announcements.
Welcome to a series that is going to encourage you to be talking about the person of the Holy Spirit. There are so many mysterious aspects, questions and often misrepresentations of who the Holy Spirit is and what the Holy Spirit does, in and through us, as we follow Jesus.

During our weekend gatherings and in our Community Groups, Pastor Keith Smith, Dr. Van Johnson and I will be inviting you into a conversation about the gifts of the Spirit, the baptism of the Spirit, the leading of the Spirit and an invitation to experience every life-giving aspect of the Spirit’s work and presence.

So join us with your questions, apprehensions and expectation as we embark on a conversation about the Holy Spirit!

The Holy Spirit:
1. Guides us TO Jesus
2. Guides us into BEING more like Jesus
"So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit."

~ Galatians 5:16-25
Happiness is perishable pleasure in a blessing; joy is an imperishable pleasure in the Blessor.”

How do we get in on the HOLY SPIRIT’S GUIDANCE?

~Galatians 5:24
1. The SPIRIT Guides us TO Jesus

“...no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.”

~1 Corinthians 12:3
“And the Spirit himself joins with our spirits to say we are God’s children.”

~Romans 8:16 [NCV]
2. The SPIRIT Guides us into BEING more like Jesus

“And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.”

~2 Corinthians 3:8 [The Message]
HOW DO WE HEAR THE SPIRIT’S GUIDANCE?
1. Through God’s living Word
2. Through other Christians
3. Through moments when we gather
